Early Times Kentucky Derby Mint Julep bottle designThe 2011 Kentucky Derby Early Times Mint Julep bottle design contest was captured by Marita Walizer’s submission.

The art will be featured on this year’s Early Times Mint Julep commemorative bottle, and Walizer will receive $5,000 and a trip for two to the 2011 Kentucky Derby.

For the past 24 years, the Early Times Mint Julep has been the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.

A commemorative artwork bottle has been released for the last 13 years, featuring the paintings of equine artist Celeste Susany.

2010 marked her final year designing the commemorative bottle’s artwork, and Early Times gave consumers the opportunity to submit their original artwork for the chance to be featured on the 2011 Kentucky Derby bottle.

Marita Walizer of Oklahoma City was chosen from dozens of entries. Her artwork features three women in Derby hats drinking mint juleps.

“It’s an incredible honor to have my artwork selected to be on the Early Times Mint Julep commemorative bottle. I grew up in Louisville and have been around horses my whole life so this really is a dream to have my artwork chosen and to attend the Kentucky Derby.”

The one-liter pre-mixed bottle will be available starting in early April. It will be available in limited quantities across the United States for a suggested retail price of $14.99.
