UK Athletics Addressing Bourbon Endorsement

Matt McCutchan, former Kentucky football player and current graduate assistant was arrested early Sunday morning on charges of alcohol intoxication.
McCutchan is the second UK coach to be arrested in the last few months. UK basketball assistant Rod Strickland was arrested in April on charges of drunk driving. He was voluntarily reassigned to an administrative position.
UK retired the “Beer Barrel” trophy after two UK football players died in 1998. The school said then promoting alcohol consumption was not consistent with it’s mission.
Now comes the conflict: Kentucky bourbon-maker Maker’s Mark is giving money to the UK music program for permission to use UK coaches likenesses on their limited-edition bottles.
Rich Brooks was featured on a bottle of Maker’s Mark last year… John Calipari was pictured on this year’s edition.
Joker Phillips said he is “addressing it.”
