Bourbon Trail Gets Shorter: Buffalo Trace and Tom Moore Drop Out

Buffalo Trace and Tom Moore distilleries will no longer be a part of the famed Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
Sazerac, the parent company, said they were dropping out of the promotional program after evaluating the benefits of membership.
Angela Traver, spokeswoman for Buffalo Trace, said
“We are going to chart our own course independently,” but she “can’t discuss the ins and outs.”
Buffalo Trace and Tom Moore, another Sazerac Distillery in Bardstown, have been removed from the Bourbon Trail Web site, and the distillers’ association will reprint brochures, said president Eric Gregory.
Created in 1999, the bourbon trail includes the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Woodford Reserve in Versailles, Four Roses and Wild Turkey in Lawrenceburg, Heaven Hill in Bardstown and Maker’s Mark in Loretto.
Gregory said members reported about 1.5 million visits from tourists on the bourbon trail tour between 2004 and 2009.
Members of the association pay dues of 10 cents per barrel in their inventory.
