Blue Grass Cooperage Gets New Name From Brown-Forman

bluegrasscooperageBlue Grass Cooperage, which makes American white oak barrels for aging spirits, is being renamed by its parent company, Brown-Forman Corp.

The company now will be known as Brown-Forman Cooperage, Louisville-based Brown-Forman said in a news release.

As we wrote in February, the cooperage also will open its doors for public tours. The cooperage, which was established in 1945, produces more than 1,500 barrels a day.

The are being arranged by Louisville-based Mint Julep Tours. Tours can be set up by calling (502) 583-1433, or at www.mintjuleptours.com.

Huge crowds won’t have to dodge the barrels as they roll off the line. Tours will be limited to a couple dozen people twice a week, exclusively through Mint Julep Tours.

“It’s culture. It’s history. It’s tradition. Our motto is the purposed of fun is to have it, so we do it with a lot of education, but also a lot of fun,” says Sean Higgins of Mint Julep Tours.
