The Sazerac Co. has completed its $334 million acquisition of Constellation Brands Inc. labels and facilities that include several bourbon brands, along with bourbon-related operations in Bardstown and Owensboro, Ky.

Bourbon brands added to the Sazerac portfolio include Kentucky Gentleman, Kentucky Tavern, Ten High, Very Old Barton and Tom Moore. Also acquired were the Tom Moore distillery in Bardstown and a bottling and warehousing facility in Owensboro.

Sazerac formed a joint venture with Frankfort, Ky.-based Buffalo Trace Distillery in 2002, and Sazerac president and CEO Mark Brown is based at the distillery. Brown said in the release that the new acquisitions will complement Sazerac’s efforts to expand its bourbon export business.

The acquisitions will bring Sazerac’s Kentucky employment to 650.

The acquisition of the Tom Moore distillery also will allow Sazerac to expand its bourbon tourism business, the release said. Both Buffalo Trace and Tom Moore operate growing tourism facilities. Both are located on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
